The NHS Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission Programme is based on this research. Results from the DiRECT study and the implementation of this program show that nearly half of the participants achieved remission of their type 2 diabetes after one year. A quarter even lost 15 kg or more, and of these, 86% achieved remission of their type 2 diabetes.
