How Nupo can help
Understanding the Challenges of Menopause
After the age of 40, many women experience changes in their bodies that aren’t caused by lifestyle, but by hormonal fluctuations and gut imbalances. This can lead to bloating, changes in fat distribution, and a general sense of imbalance – especially during menopause, when oestrogen levels naturally decline.
Many women develop new needs and habits as their bodies change – including a desire for more structure and balance in daily life. Nupo Diet can be a practical and manageable way to take control when meals and routines need a reset – even just as a kickstart to build better habits.

- Designed for periods of changing needs and priorities

FAQ about weight loss

Is the Nupo Diet safe?
Yes, the Nupo Diet is designed to be safe when used according to the instructions.
The diet is based on the VLCD principle (Very Low Calorie Diet), where you consume a significantly reduced number of calories per day through carefully formulated meal replacement products.
These products are developed to provide all the necessary nutrients your body needs to function on such a diet.
Can I exercise while on the Nupo Diet?
Yes, you can exercise while following the Nupo Diet, but it is important to adjust the intensity and volume of your workout to your lower calorie intake. Light to moderate exercise is recommended, especially at the beginning.
Listen to your body and adapt your training accordingly.
Can I prepare my Nupo Diet Shakes in advance?
Yes, you can prepare your Nupo Diet Shakes a day in advance so they are ready to drink right away. However, they should be stored in the refrigerator like other dairy drinks. Most people prefer their shakes chilled. Before drinking your pre-mixed shake, give it a good shake again. Enjoy your meal!
Are 4–5 portions enough if I eat a healthy dinner as well?
We recommend that you always consume 6–7 Nupo portions daily – even if you supplement with regular food. This ensures you get all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients your body needs. Even if the food you add seems healthy and nutritious, it may not cover all your nutritional needs. If you still want to eat dinner, we recommend our 1200 or 1500 kcal meal plans.
Do I need to take vitamin pills while on Nupo?
No, it is generally not necessary to take vitamin supplements when following the Nupo Diet. Nupo contains all the vitamins and minerals your body needs each day.
Can I use Nupo if I have type 1 diabetes?
Yes, you can use the Nupo Diet Shakes, which are a TDR (Total Diet Replacement), if you have type 1 diabetes.
However, it is very important to consult your doctor (diabetologist) before starting the program.
Insulin dosage must be adjusted first to avoid the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
For patients on mealtime insulin, it's a good idea to consult a dietitian to ensure insulin dosage matches the carbohydrate content of the meals.
Will I regain the weight after finishing the Nupo Diet?
If you return to the same eating habits and routines you had before the Nupo Diet, weight gain is likely.
The Nupo Diet is a kickstart – long-term success depends on changing your eating habits.
Our One Meal range can help with this. The range includes bars, shakes, and pancake mix that replace 1–2 main meals per day. One One Meal product equals a main meal and can save you about 300 calories per meal. It’s also helpful to calculate your calorie needs based on your activity level.
Can I replace just one meal with the Nupo Diet?
The Nupo Diet range is designed as a total meal replacement for those who want to kickstart their weight loss using 6-7 daily shakes.
If you want to replace only some meals, we recommend our One Meal products – bars or ready-to-drink shakes – to replace 1–2 meals a day.
What does TDR mean?
TDR stands for Total Diet Replacement. The Nupo Diet includes 6–7 daily portions – shakes, soups, meals or desserts – and is known as a TDR, a total meal replacement.
A TDR is divided into two categories:
- VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet): 6 portions a day – approx. 800 kcal
- LCD (Low Calorie Diet): 7 portions a day – approx. 900 kcal
The regulations for TDR products are strict, ensuring that you receive all essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals while staying around 800 kcal per day.
By law, a VLCD must contain between 450–800 kcal daily. Studies show that consuming less than 800 kcal does not lead to faster weight loss.
With the Nupo Diet, you get an average of 800–900 kcal across 6–7 daily portions – helping to stabilize blood sugar and support digestion. You can freely mix and match the flavors according to your preferences.
The Nupo Diet comes in a variety of flavours – there's definitely something for everyone.

How do I stop the Nupo Diet once I’ve reached my goal?
It’s beneficial for your body to continue with the meal routine of 6 meals a day developed during the Nupo Diet. We recommend 3 main meals and 2–3 snacks daily.
Half your plate should be vegetables – preferably the fibre-rich kind. Also include a good protein source and wholegrain carbs with plenty of fibre.
Snacks help to keep blood sugar stable. A snack could be a small bowl of skyr with raspberries and a few almonds, or sliced veggies like cucumber, carrot sticks, or bell pepper. You can also try our One Meal products or Protein Bites. One Meal is a range of meal replacements that can be used to replace 1–2 main meals per day. Protein Bites are bars high in protein and fibre, available in two flavours: Caramel Ginger and Chocolate.

Can Nupo Diet Shakes and Soups be mixed with hot water?
Yes, you may mix your Nupo Diet Shakes with hot water, though we recommend enjoying them chilled – many prefer them cold. Our Nupo Diet Soups (Spicy Thai Chicken, Tomato, or Vegetables) should be mixed with cold water and heated in a microwave or pot.
